To Revival Fires Ministry,

I am writing this letter to express in some small way my appreciation for the Revival Fires Ministry and their efforts to distribute Bibles to every Marine, Sailor, Soldier, Airman and Coast Guardsman who is in harm’s way.  In particular, I am personally appreciative of these efforts because I have seen first hand the fruits of their labors.

I have served as a Chaplain in the 2^nd Marine Division, specifically serving as the Command Chaplain for the 2^nd Recon Battalion, Headquarters Battalion, 2^nd Assault Amphibian Battalion, and 3^rd Battalion, 2^nd Marines – eventually being selected by the Commanding General to serve as his Deputy Division Chaplain.  While in this capacity, I was tasked by the Commanding General, on relatively short notice, (within 48 hours), to replace a Chaplain in Kuwait, whose unit was preparing for combat operations in Iraq.  As a result of these short-fused unforeseen changes, I was left with few religious supplies, such as Bibles, to accomplish the mission.

This is where, I believe, Revival Fires Ministry truly became a genuine hero in the War on Terror.  Not knowing where I was going to get a sufficient number of God’s Word for my men, I began to inquire from others about the possibility of securing Bibles.  The immediate response I received was that Revival Fires Ministry had provided literally thousands of copies of the Word of God for the U.S. Military.  Needless to say, I could not pass them out fast enough.

It is amazing to see when one is faced with their own mortality how even the non-religious turn to the Word of God and prayer to find hope in their time of need.  I saw hardened men literally devouring these small Bibles as if it were the last sustenance known to mankind!

As a result of these Bibles being distributed and the power of the Word of God, I saw more than 60 combat-hardened men come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.  In fact, I had the privilege of baptizing them in the Tigris River on Easter Sunday.

There is not a week that goes by that one of these men does not contact me in one way or another to say thank you, not to me, but to God, for the power of God that has transformed their lives – a power that was revealed to them by the Word of God. For this, I will be eternally grateful to Revival Fires Ministry as well as all those who made such generous contributions possible.  THANK YOU!

ARE YOU WILLING TO EMBRACE CHANGE?

Change.  I hope this word doesn’t frighten you, but rather inspires you.  Herbert Spencer said, “A living thing is distinguished from a dead thing by the multiplicity of the changes at any moment taking place in it.”  Change is an evidence of life.  It is not possible to grow without change.  Those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.  The reality is, life is always at some turning point.

What people want is progress, if they can have it without change.  Impossible!  You must change and recognize that change is your greatest ally.  The person who never changes his opinion never corrects his mistakes.  The truth is the road to achievement is always under construction.

Yesterday’s formula for success is often tomorrow’s recipe for failure.  Consider what Thomas Watson, the founder of the IBM Corporation, said, “There is a world market for about five computers.”  Where would IBM be today if Mr. Watson had not been willing to change?

You cannot become what you are destined to be by remaining what you are.  John Patterson said, “Only fools and dead men don’t change their minds.  Fools won’t.  Dead men can’t.”  If you don’t respect the need for change, consider this:  How many things have you seen that have changed just in the past year?  When you change yourself, opportunities will change.  The same kind of thinking that has brought you to where you are will not necessarily get you to where you want to go.

When the Lord inspired me to design the Truth for Youth Bible I had limited resources to develop comic stories.  As you may know, the Truth for Youth is a New Testament along with a section of comic stories dealing with the truth about moral issues young people are confronted with.

I secured the right to use powerful black and white comics that were already developed by a very popular artist and comic writer.  However, I had to agree to combine them with a King James Version Bible or I couldn’t use them.  We printed and distributed 150,000 of those while I developed my own full color comics.  We combined them with the God’s Word Translation, the most accurate, easy to read, translation available, and produced one of the most popular youth bibles available. 

The late, Dr. Bill Bright, Campus Crusades for Christ founder, said that the Truth for Youth Bible was the most relevant and effective evangelistic tool for young people on public school campuses that he had seen since he began his ministry.

Every printing we update the TFY to make it more cutting edge.  We have distributed more than 1.3 million copies and have just printed an updated version of 50,000 more.

Do not fear change, for it is an unchangeable law of advancement.  The man who uses yesterday’s methods in today’s world won’t be in business tomorrow.  A traditionalist is simply a person whose mind is always open to new ideas, provided they are the same old ones.  Odell Shepard observed, “There are people who not only strive to remain static themselves, but strive to keep everything else so…their position is almost laughably hopeless.”

Mignon McLaughlin said, “It’s the most unhappy people who most fear change.”  When patterns and tradition are broken, new opportunities come together.  Defending your faults and errors only indicates that you have no intentions of quitting them.  All progress is due to those who were not satisfied to let well enough alone.  They weren’t afraid to change.  Change is not your enemy-it is your friend.  Take a few moments and evaluate everything you are involved in and ask yourself if there are area’s that you need to allow God to change in you to be more productive for Him, the people around you and yourself.  That is change you can believe in.

More soldiers are committing suicide in Iraq and Afghanistan than are being killed by Al Quaeda and the Taliban.  Our soldiers face the stubborn enemies of loneliness, separation and fear.  Against these foes, even the most high-tech weapons offer little protection.  But the Word of God will leave our soldiers fully armed.

Our open air India Crusade in Palayamkottai brought a rich harvest of souls.  We thank the Lord that literally thousands of souls were saved.  What a joy in heaven over every sinner saved and every soul delivered from the clutches of Satan.   The Holy Spirit of God fell so strong in each service.

In this powerful crusade we witnessed hundreds of people being healed.  One man testified, “For the past five years I was unable to walk.  Now after prayer at the crusade, I have started to walk.  I felt my nerves being pulled.  God has touched my nerves.”  One lady who had been mute from birth was instantly healed.  The very first word she spoke was, “JESUS”.  She testified for a very long time.  I guess, after not speaking for 38 years she had a lot to say.  The crowd was roaring praises to the Lord!
